Teaching As Research (TAR) Projects

CIRTL@Bing
Teaching As Research (TAR) Project

The CIRTL@Bing is about becoming the kind of educator whose work helps others grow. By choosing an area of your teaching practice for examination and innovation, you'll practice key professional skills including critical thinking, self-reflection, research, and analysis. The CIRTL@Bing community will be there to help you along the way.

鈥淲hat鈥檚 one small change I could make to help my students learn more, engage more, or succeed more?鈥

Asking yourself this question will take you through all three levels of CIRTL@Bing Endorsements: Associate, Practitioner, and Scholar. For Scholars who want to publish or broadly present their TAR project, the CIRTL@Bing team appropriate guidance on ethical research and IRB approval. This won't be the path for everyone. Many Scholars will share their learning in less formal ways and still achieve the endorsement.

After completing your TAR,  you鈥檒l walk away with:

  • A clear story of your growth as a teacher
  • A project that shows you don鈥檛 just teach鈥攜ou lead with evidence
  • A polished teaching portfolio that makes search committees take notice
  • Confidence to step forward as a mentor and a voice in your teaching community
