
Jay Lancaster, MS, CCC-SLP
Instructional Support Specialist
Background
Jay Lancaster joined Decker College of Nursing and Health Sciences in January 2025 as an instructional support specialist and speech and language pathologist. He holds a New York state license in speech-language pathology and a certificate of clinical competence in speech-language pathology from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA). He is SPEAK OUT! certified to support individuals with Parkinson's Disease in regaining and retaining voice.
Lancaster has served individuals across the lifespan as a speech-language pathologist. He started his career in early intervention and pediatric outpatient settings, and later worked as a program director for community-based brain injury programs. His expertise is in designing interdisciplinary, group-based programming for stroke and traumatic brain injury survivors, with an emphasis on life participation and community engagement.
Lancaster has delivered regional presentations on his piloting of innovative communication programming for the acquired brain injury population, including online group-based services and personal narrative storytelling through podcasting. He also has extensive experience supervising undergraduate and graduate students on their path toward independent clinical practice.
