Project Description
Volunteers needed for NSF Energy Storage Engine of Upstate New York booth at the New York State Fair in Syracuse from August 20 to September 1!

Our booth will be open daily August 20 to September 1 from 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM, and we need volunteers to cover two daily shifts:
Morning Shift: 9:30 AM – 3:00 PM
Afternoon Shift: 2:30 PM – 9:00 PM

What You’ll Be Doing:
As a booth volunteer, you’ll be a vital part of our mission to inspire and educate the public about batteries, clean energy, and the exciting work happening right here in Upstate New York. Volunteer roles include:
-Welcoming and engaging fairgoers — be friendly and inviting to encourage people to visit our booth
-Leading simple, hands-on activities for kids — no experience necessary, just energy and enthusiasm!
-Running a fun and easy game called Battery Feud — we’ll train you on how to play host!
-Encouraging visitors to complete a short survey using an iPad
-Distributing information about the Engine, battery technology, and related careers
-Handing out giveaways and Engine swag to booth visitors

We’re looking for folks who are energetic, comfortable talking with people, and excited to help us tell our story in a fun, accessible way. You’ll be fully trained and supported — no prior knowledge of batteries required.

Volunteer Perks:
To show our appreciation, all volunteers will receive:
-Reimbursement for travel, fair entry, and parking
-Meals and water during your shift
-An Engine volunteer t-shirt
-A special swag bag just for you

How to Sign Up:
Please sign up for a specific day and shift so we can ensure full coverage and a smooth experience for everyone. Feel free to sign up for multiple days if you're able!
